My daughter’s artistic comic skills are still developing but he has become more interested in Comic Books and Graphic Novels lately.

I don’t want her lack of confidence in her art abilities to stop her from making her own comic book.

So I did a little research and found a few easy and kid friendly platforms that can help her and hopefully others make their own online comic book.

Now don’t let it’s outdated design scare you away! Now from my little bit of research I’ve feel that Make Beliefs Comic is still a very fun and kid friendly platform for anyone to use to make an online comic book.

  • Is it Free?
    • Not only is their site free but you also don’t have to worry about creating account to use their site; granted you can’t save your work but that’s okay if you want to save it so you can work on it another day then just create a free account and boom! you got your comic!
  • Can you print or download your comic?:
    • You can either print out your comic or you can send it to your email. For my homeschooling parents and fellow teachers I feel there is great educational potential here!
  • Can you Upload your own art?:
    • You unfortunately can’t upload your own artwork to use on their platform but that’s okay because I feel this is a great way to get past that artist block that pops up due to fear of the blank page. I like how they have art that you can use with their comic book generator so there’s no hurdle stopping me from mapping out my comic quick and easy!

Now if you’d like a site that is more up to date and still kid friendly then we’re both in luck because I found another great online comic book tool! This site was created by a Clive and Daina Goodinson who are a creative husband-and-wife team!

  • Is it Free or do you need an Account?:
    • Yes it is free for individual accounts but I just wanted it to be noted that they do offer services that are specifically made for teachers and that account is not free.
  • Can you print or download your comic?:
    • Unfortunately the Print and download option is not available for their free accounts.
  • Can you Upload your own art?:
    • The option to upload your art is also not available for the free accounts but I still feel it is a fun place for aspiring comic creators to get their feet wet and used to the format and constructions of making a comic

Comic Strips Online with Canva

Now this one surprised me because I’ve used canvas before and still use them even now but I never new they had a way for you to make an online comic book! This was such a pleasant surprise because their interface is so easy and I love how they have a drag and drop grid option to help make sure everything stays lined up in a visually pleasing way. I like me a good snap grid~

  • Is it Free or do you need an Account?:
    • It’s free but you will need to create an account with them as well but trust me it’s so worth it because right now I LOVE them!
  • Can you print or download your comic?:
    • That’s another thing I love about Canva is because you can download and print the images you’ve created. So feel free to create your 4 panel comic book and print or share it to your hearts content!
  • Can you Upload your own art?:
    • Yes you sure can! Guys seriously you’ve got to try out this app! I really feel this was just a pleasant little treasure find because I’ve used them for so long but never realized they had an online comic book making option!
