I learned that what motivates me is knowing that consistency will always yield results so any progress is good progress towards my end goal.
I’m not the best with my words but I wanted to look back and share where I came from with my art and I hope it can encourage someone else to not give up on themselves and they’re journey.
If you’re starting out with art you are at your year 1 regardless of what your actual age is.
The first photo is of me at my year 1. I pulled reference from a game I loved called Chrono Cross.
The next photo is me at my year 5 and as you can see even though I was still using photos it looked like I digressed (is that the right word) either way it looked like my art plateaued and this was after me drawing for 5 years. Either way I still remember how much fun I was having with this story so I was happy!
The next photo is my year 12. Now back when I was younger I used to cry about not being 13 because I wanted to be a teenager like my sisters. Little did I know that if I kept living, eating, taking care of my health and happiness I would eventually get there.
That situation applies here. You are just starting out and you’re 1 years old but that voice is beating you down because you’re not 12 years old…you just turned 1.
Now for me I struggle with art so it might not take you as long to get to your individual year 12.

I just want to encourage you guys that you can make it if you keep drawing what you love and creating what you love. That persistency will pay off.
Don’t beat yourself down because you’re 1 years old and someone else is 15 years old.
You’ll turn 15 don’t worry! It’s not too late! You’re doing great! Keep drawing cause I need more friendly associates to draw comics with me gosh-darn-it!✍🏾❤
