Q. Want to start a webcomic but I suck at drawing? So I want to start my own webcomic but my drawing skills suck (like stickman level suck) the story I have in mind is pretty dark and serious so I don’t think stickman drawings will cut it. I really don’t know where to begin. If possible I hope my drawing skills can reach the level of DC/Marvel comics standard
A. With over 5+ published comic books under my belt and over 6+ webtoon comics available to read online I’ve learned one super secret tool that fellow professional digital webtoon comic artist use and that’s 3D models.
With digital art software like Clip Studio Paint they have a feature that has premade 3D models available for comic artist to use to trace over or reference or whichever way to help them bring their comics to life!
Another great feature that Clip Studio Paint offers with their 3D models is the ability to change the shape and size of the 3D model human assets AND on top of that they have a camera preset feature that allows you to easily pick from their selection of dynamic camera angles.
So if you want to make a comic like DC or Marvel comics or Webtoon style comics then Clip Studio Paint is a secret weapon that I and other professional comic artist use to help us create our stories!
Of course this isn’t mandatory to use and there are lots of different ways to make art since art isn’t one size fits all but this method has helped me draw my webtoon Catch Me! Fight Me! Love Me! because there are lots of things I can’t draw but using 3D models with Clip Studio Paint has helped me to still draw my webtoon despite that~
If you want to create a webtoon but you can’t draw then my webtoon workshop kit will be the perfect fit for you because I will show you my process on how I use 3D models to do just that~
In this kit I have a workbook to help guide you through each webtoon creation stage as well as videos where I show my exact step-by-step process on how I create my webtoon that anybody can follow regardless of what their skill level is with art~
Even if you can’t draw a stick figure, if you follow along with this workshop kit by the end you will have achieved your goal by making your first 4 panel webtoon to share with the world!
A motto I like to follow is that art is not a one size fits all, there’s more than one way to make art~
Even if we can’t draw that’s okay because we know how to be creative problem solvers to still achieve our dream and make our webtoon stories!
