I use TikTok to share my webtoon process creation tips, share funny scenes from my comic or create mini slideshows with music overlays that fit certain emotional scenes in my comic.
Giving some sort of value either answering a question people might have about the process of creating what you create or just a behind the scene looks helps me get more views to my webtoon because I’m being helpful and giving value in a way~
Can an artist use TikTok?
Most definitely! TikTok is a great app to use to market your webtoon comic on! I ending up gaining 6k webtoon subscribers in under 3 months just from TikTok!
TikTok is an app for creating and sharing short video clips containing all sorts of interests from across the globe. From comedy and entertainment to talent and precious moments in life.
TikTok Content Idea for Webtoon Comic Artist
Here are a few content ideas that both artist and webtoon comic creators can use to create their videos on TikTok that adds value and are pretty popular:
- Behind the Scene (show how you do what you do or your daily routine)
- Share what supplies you use
- Share where you get your supplies
- Share how you use certain tools
- Share your favorite product and why it’s your favorite
- Drawing Time-lapse
- Speedpaint/Speeddraw of your comic page or art piece
- Share your workstation/setup
I recently made an account on TikTok for my artwork.
Now I was afraid to start an account because I didn’t think what I did would really fit there since the videos I first saw were karaoke type videos and I can neither sing nor can I hold a beat :/
So what was the point of me, a comic artist making a TikTok account?
Music.. over.. Speed-painting.
Here’s another three words
I hate how my voice sounds😣 but I wanted to share how to publish a comic book for free for anyone that wanted to publish their own☺️ ##MakeTheLeap♬ original sound – smorishita
So simple right!? 🙂
So how can you use TikTok to share art?
There are several ways you can do this, but I like to make mini Speedpaint videos that you can easily integrate music over, like how I do my youtube videos – just all done on my phone as opposed to me recording with my camera, importing onto my computer, editing in iMovie, and waiting for the long upload time on to youtube.
UPDATE: After testing out to see what I enjoyed and applying what I saw others do on TikTok my style of videos is changing where now I just do everything on my phone. This is a lot more accessible for me and fits perfectly for my personal preference!
You are all beautiful adorable sweet beans❤❤ If you’d like you can read Love! Love Fighting! an online manga all for free at s-morishitastudio.com♬ original sound – emileeflood
How do I make Comic Art videos on TikTok?
Timing with the music is tricky for me but practice makes perfect and the app is pretty forgiving.
Pick a song, either 60sec or 15sec, stop and start the recording – what I’m doing right now is having the rhythm of the beats match the cuts – but again I can’t hold a beat so there is still a lot of trial and error involved. Though luckily you can just backspace with one click and retry so it’s pretty user friendly.
Go Forward and have fun!
So using your newly found (and hopefully helpful) knowledge of TikTok, go share, share, share!! Because you’ve created something special and there are already people waiting to see it.
What should you do next?
