I like to publish my webtoon comic on both Tapas and LINE Webtoon canva because mirroring my comic on both sites helps to grow my audience reach.
Platforms help to build up one another and since both of these platforms bring in their own market I like to tap into both and also funnel them down to my own website as well as my social media platforms~
Using an mobile tablets and free art apps like ibispaint or Jump Paint that have comic specific features are actually great tools to use to start publishing a webtoon.
I used both my display tablet and my iPad with my apple pen and I noticed that the apple pen is just as good if not better when it comes to pen to paper feel!
Also since the iPad is a standalone tablet that doesn’t need a computer or laptop to work like a display tablet it makes it a very budget friendly option that I as well as other webtoon comic creators use.
Now there are creators who have used Procreate to make their webtoon on the iPhone with an apple pencil.
BUT I personally recommend free programs like ibispaint or Jump Paint that are specifically created for comic creating and they’re free so it’s great for those on a tight budget.
Something to keep in mind with ibis-ain’t is that the canva size limit is 4k pixels long.
Luckily the webtoon panel size doesn’t have to be that long since webtoons are created by several individual image files.
The webtoon format I recommend for drawing is double the webtoon upload size; so instead of drawing in a file size of 800 x 1280 I will draw my webtoon 1600 x 2400.
Now if you are a traditional artist that draws on B6 or A5 size paper then you can still publish it on webtoon!
A5 in pixels is actually 2480 x 1748 pixels and B6 is 1476 x 2079 pixels.
So just take a picture of your comic page with your phone and if you go to croppy website it will help resize and split up your comic photos so you can publish it on webtoon~
The way that you upload a webtoon from your mobile device is you can use the chrome app or your internet browser and click the request desktop version when you go to webtoons website.
Lastly just to future push how great of a comic app ibis-ain’t there is an anime background filter that can easily and quickly turn photos into webtoon backgrounds.
So if you want to make webtoon backgrounds quickly you can do so with ibispaint many filters
