I’ve done some research and I learned that as of 2020 Pinterest image search image optimization is such a big tool for webtoon comic creators to utilize if they want to get more views on webtoon or more subscribers for their webtoon.
I’ve started using Pinterest more seriously in January 2020 and so far my it brings in about 200 view to my webtoon per month on my website.
I don’t know what the analytics are for my webtoon on LINE Webtoons platform but I most of my subscribers from LINE found me from my video marketing on TikTok but we’ll save that webtoon comic marketing strategy for another day.
The point of this all is that I feel the best way to market your comic and gain more views and subscribers for your webtoon is using Pinterest Image SEO.
How many subscribers do you get when you start out on WEBTOON
Since LINE webtoon doesn’t have a hashtag option and from my research it looks like their algorithm works mostly from how often you update and how many likes or views you get, there isn’t really one hard fast numerical answer to this questions that I can really give.
BUT what I can say is that when you first start out on webtoon you do appear on their fresh canva section which for those exploring that section will be able to view your webtoon and subscribe to it.
After that another way that you can also get more subscribers just using LINE webtoon platform alone and no other social media platform is by your update frequency and consistency.
How do I promote my Webtoon?
There is a saying that platform builds platform so I’d totally recommend you use other platforms to market your comic and once again I’d suggest you hop on Pinterest SEO.
I won’t get into a whole tutorial on how to use Pinterest because there are a lot of more experienced pinners out there that can explain it better and I’m still new to it but just sampling uploading 1 image of your webtoon and adding the keyword that is relevant to your comic or story or pin image and then linking it back to your webtoon on LINE can help you get more views and potentially more subscribers.
Since I started pinning more frequently on pinterest my pins are currently at 160k impressions per month. This just means that the pinned image of my webtoon shows up on the front page of people that are exploring pinterest, which I think its pretty cool from the possible handful impressions that my webtoon might have gained after being on the newly update section of canva.
Here is my Pinterest if you’d like to see what boards I’ve created and study how I pin my webtoon and what keywords I use.
What should you do next?
Go ahead and get started on creating that webtoon now that you have a list of your tools!
As always don’t forget make sure above all else you’re prioritizing your happiness and enjoying your comic journey!
I’ve also published 4 Comic books and as of 2020 I’m currently working on my 5th published book! If you’d like to learn how to publish a Comic book in 3 steps then check out my blog post How to Publish a Comic book.
