Clip Studio Paint EX is one of the most popular software that I along with other Webtoon Artist use along with ibispaint and Medibang Paint.
It’s specifically made for comic artist with tools like panel slicer, colorize fill and a built in 3D Background models feature that a lot of other programs don’t really have.
While Clip Studio Paint is great there are still other budget friendly comic specific programs alternative that work just as good!
Medibang Paint Pro for the Desktop is a free webtoon comic art program that you can use that comes with a lot of similar features in Clip Studio Paint Debut.
Not only does medibang paint have free material assets and a large community but they also hold lots of manga and art contest for aspiring comic artist to participate in.
IbisPaint is also another free webtoon comic art app that is specific for mobile devices and it’s also compatible with Clip Studio Paint and has a lot of similar comic features like their automatic built in screen record feature!
So if you don’t want to have to pay for the subscription based Clip Studio Paint app for mobile devices then Ibispaint is a great alternative.
Just keep in mind that neither ibis paint nor medibang paint has the 3D model capability that Clip Studio Paint has which is a great tool to use for creating dynamic angels!
A few 3D model apps that I use for my webtoon to create backgrounds or different poses for my characters is, Clara.io, ACON3D, Home Design 3D and Magic Poser.
I cover a secret template tool that I use to create my webtoon panels here on this blog post if you’d like to use this panel guide as well!
