The wacom’s smartpad is a great beginner tablet for traditional artist to transition to digital drawing while still drawing in a sketchbook.
Guys…My mind has yet again been blown by the technology that is available for beginner artist now and days when I first learned about this!
Have y’all heard of the smart pad?! You can literally clip your paper to this device and when you draw on it with your normal pencil or pen your artwork will transfer right to your computer screen!!
How crazy is that!? This is PERFECT for digital artist beginners!
Back when I was a beginner and trying to find ways to dip my toe into the world of digital art, I wished they had something like this available for me!
It was such a struggle trying to adjust to the hand eye coordination of drawing on my graphic tablet while also staring at my computer screen.
Of course you can draw directly on the screen if you use a display tablet or a touch screen tablet but I saw more of the intermediate artist using that so I was a little intimidated by them….
Now I’m aging myself when I say this but there also weren’t a lot of good selections back in my day but there are a lot of good art tablets out now!
So I say all of that to just say if you’re thinking about trying out drawing digitally but don’t know how then I totally recommend you try out this tablet!
You can slowly ease yourself into the digital art world and when you’re ready to take the next step then you can move on to the graphic tablet!
I cover a few of my favorites here if you’d like to check them out!
